According to the news, according to the ongoing guidelines, the state government can allow the aggregation of non-transport motorcycles for travel by passengers using its powers under Section 67 of Section 67 of the Act. Under sub-section (3) of Section 67 of the State Government Act, the aggregator can be imposed on daily/weekly/fortnightly basis to issue an authority to allow non-transport motorcycles to travel through such an aggregator, as can be decided by the state government.

Uber and Rapido welcomed

The central government’s decision relieves bike taxi operators such as Rapido and Uber, which has been working in the legal gray area for a long time, especially in states such as Karnataka, where there was a huge opposition to the ban on bike taxis recently. Uber’s spokesperson said that we appreciate the consultation and balanced approach of the ministry and are committed to working closely with governments at all levels to support the effective and inclusive rollout of the framework. Rapido particularly welcomed the operation of section 23 of MVAG 2025. This section allows the aggregation of non-transport motorcycles for passenger trips.
