Social logistics surge in China in first quarter

Beijing, April 29 (IANS). Logistics operations in China have steadily recovered in the first quarter of this year. The growth rate of total social logistics increased and operations remained stable. The Chinese Logistics and Purchasing Association on Monday released logistics operation data for the first quarter of this year.

According to data, the total social logistics in China stood at 880 trillion yuan (10,125 trillion rupees) in the first quarter of this year, whose growth rate is 5.9 percent higher than the same period last year. If seen from the structure of total social logistics, the proportion of industrial product logistics was about 90 percent.

This shows that the supporting role of logistics in the production sector is still strong. The growth rate of industrial product logistics in the first quarter of this year is 6 percent higher than the same period in 2023.

Under the impetus of related policies, demand for logistics increased in sectors like computer communication and semiconductor manufacturing related to technological change. This shows that there has been rapid development of logistics in the field of new kinetic energy related to industrial upgrading.
