The work of safely evacuating the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel has started.

Silkyara/Dehradun. So far, out of 41 workers trapped due to landslide in the under construction Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand since 12th November, the day of Diwali, four workers have been rescued safely.

The workers trapped in the tunnel for the last 17 days are being taken out one by one. Health check-up of the workers who have come out is being done. To this end, a temporary emergency medical camp was set up inside the tunnel on Tuesday afternoon.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is meeting the evacuated workers and asking about their well-being. Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh is also present at the spot. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highly appreciated the morale and courage of the workers and personnel engaged in the rescue operation. The relatives of the workers being evacuated are also present near the tunnel. The initial health training of the workers evacuated from the tunnel will be done in the temporary medical camp built in the tunnel.

Earlier in the day, official sources said that due to the rescue operation, a temporary medical facility has been expanded inside the tunnel. After evacuating the trapped workers, health training will be conducted at this place. In case of any problem, eight beds arranged by the health department and a team of doctors and experts have been deployed in this camp. Scientists and technologies from all over the world are being used in the rescue.
