Baba Ramdev stuck in new trouble, GST department sent notice of Rs 27 crore to Patanjali Foods

Mumbai. Yogaguru Baba Ramdev's troubles are showing no sign of diminishing. After the advertisement issue, now the GST department has increased the tension of Ramdev. Patanjali Foods has received a notice from the Food Department, in which questions have been asked regarding tax credit worth crores of rupees.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Intelligence Department has sent a show cause notice to Patanjali Foods asking the company to explain why input tax credit of Rs 27.46 crore should not be recovered from it. Yoga guru Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved Group company has received a notice from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Chandigarh Zonal Unit, according to details filed by the company with the regulator on April 26. This company is mainly in edible oil business.

The company said, the company has received a show cause notice. The company, its officers and authorized signatories have been asked to show cause as to why the input tax credit amount of Rs 27,46,14,343 (including interest) should not be recovered, and why penalty should not be imposed. The department has given the notice citing Section 20 of the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) Act, 2017 read with the Central Goods and Services Act, 2017 and Section 74 of the Uttarakhand State Goods and Services Act, 2017 and other applicable provisions.
