Veteran ghazal-playback singer and Padma Shri recipient Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72 on Monday (February 26, 2024) after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at 11 am today in Mumbai. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for some time. The Udhas family also gave this news to their fans. In the official note, the family said that the singer was suffering from a long illness. Veteran ghazal singer's daughter Nayab shared a statement on Instagram. “With a very heavy heart, we are sad to inform you about the tragic demise of Padmashree Pankaj Udhas due to prolonged illness on 26 February 2024,” the official statement said.

“I am so sorry and it is devastating! May his soul rest in peace. I know no words can give peace, however I pray that God gives your family the strength to deal with the irreparable loss of Shri Udhasji #TheEndOfAnEra,” the singer wrote in the caption of daughter Nayaab.

Pankaj ji's mortal remains are still in Breach Candy Hospital. The last rites will be performed tomorrow. For those unaware, the late singer is survived by his two daughters Nayaab and Reva Udhas.

Sonu Nigam reacted on the death of Pankaj Udhas

Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam also expressed his condolences to the veteran singer on his Instagram profile. Sonu wrote on Instagram, “The most important part of my childhood has been lost today. Mr. Pankaj Udhas ji, I will always remember you. My heart is crying knowing that you are no more. Thanks for being there. om Shanti.” ,

Nitin Gadkari paid tribute to Pankaj Udhas
