New Delhi. DGCA has expressed concern over the frequent loss of navigation and disorientation of aircraft flying near the Middle East. DGCA has issued an advisory regarding civil aviation aircraft flying towards the Middle East. In fact, the Middle-East air traffic area is emerging as a new threat to civil aviation. Expressing concern over these dangers, DGCA has given advice and alerted the airlines.

Said this in DGCA advisory

DGCA has issued advisory to all Indian airlines. DGCA said in the advisory that when civil aircraft fly over parts of the Middle East, their navigation systems are being circumvented. It is fast emerging as a major security threat. In such a situation, airlines need to be cautious about this. The aviation industry is grappling with uncertainties due to new threats and reports of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) jamming and spoofing. DGCA said that the increasing reports of GNSS interference on airspace in the Middle-East in recent times is a matter of concern. In such a situation, it is very important to keep emergency measures ready to deal with jamming of the navigation system. DGCA is considering creating a monitoring and analysis network of such threats.

What is the whole matter of planes going astray?

In late September, several commercial flights near Iran were grounded after their navigation systems shut down. One of these became a victim of spoofing and flew into Iranian airspace without permission. According to OpsGroup, a group of professional pilots, flight dispatchers, schedulers and controllers have raised the issue. In fact, the concern is that if the airplane gets lost due to navigation jam, it may go towards some of the busiest airways. Accidents can happen after going astray. There is a busy air route between northern Iraq and Azerbaijan. In this, many incidents have been recorded near Erbil. Till September, 12 separate incidents were recorded. The most recent incident was recorded on November 20 near Ankara, Turkey.
