Islamabad, May 21 (IANS). It is extremely hot in the East Punjab province of Pakistan. Due to this, all government and private schools will remain closed from 25 to 31 May.

“Schools will be allowed to conduct examinations as per schedule with necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students,” the Punjab government's school education department said in a notification on Monday.

“Heat wave conditions are expected over most parts of the country, especially Punjab and southern Sindh province, from May 21 due to the presence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere,” the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said last week, reports Xinhua news agency.

Apart from this, the Meteorological Department had said that there could be severe heat on 23-27 May. The department had appealed to the people not to go out of their homes unnecessarily in the hot sun and to drink more water.
